Redfish

Hello folks! Fishing right now goes and comes with the weather. The good thing to keep in mind is that March will change all that, as soon as the water temp hits a certain number nature will take its coarse. The warmer water will bring a bunch of fun fishing with it. Right now red and black drum are being caught along with puppy drum and whiting and sheepshead mixed in. The warmer water is going to bring trout, slot reds, and no telling what else, so get exited with me and let’s go catch em.

Speckled Trout

Hello fisherman , this time of year is very exciting to me because it brings back fond memories of some special fishing. Usually I’m out there alone this time of year simply because it’s a slow time for the calendar. January the first 2005 I caught the biggest trout I’ve ever caught in my life, the fish was over ten pounds. Give me a call, let’s go fishing and I’ll show you exactly where and how I made that happen.

Speckled Trout

Fishing the Galveston jetties in December has much to offer, the possibility to catch a trout of a lifetime always exist in the winter months. The other things available are the normal redfish bite that exist 12 months a year and usually about this time of year the big black drum show up. Both the red and the black drum put up a tremendous fight. The other fish that always has a huge following of anglers is those flounder at this time of the year. So get your family or friends and help me enjoy this thing called fishing that is very special to me.

Tarpon at boat

Fish and or fishing is pretty good right now, the jetties has a lot of bait swarming on both sides of the rocks that are holding fish. I’m seeing lots of small tarpon in the jetty area, slot reds and trout are staying right with all that bait – sure makes things easier. For those of you that want to fight bigger fish the bull reds are there also – you just have to move off the rocks a little. Don’t forget the sharks – those bad boys are still here and make for a fun and exiting day of fishing. Hope to see you you soon.

Tight lines,

Sammy

King Mackerel

Fishing this month is becoming very special and very exciting , the water is clearing up really good and there’s bait everywhere. The feeding in the gulf and on the jetties is phenomenal. It’s really cool watching the kings and the sharks break the surface of the water chasing bait! There’s been sailfish caught on the beach and close to the jetties which is very unusual. Lots of fun and some very exciting fishing going on now, so hurry and book your trip.

Redfish

Fishing for the past two months (March and April) has been very similar, for the most part the thing that has things backed up is all these late cold front pushes of weather that won’t let the water temp climb the way nature intended. Mother Nature is who controls everything in the Gulf and Bay, each degree of temperature rise, triggers a different species of fish to spawn. All these things control when different species of fish show up on the Galveston jetties.

The jetties for the most part hold a resident population of trout and redfish, which is what we target for the most part. Slot reds cooperate rather well , but bull reds cooperate even better. So when you come to fish the Galveston jetties with Captain Flores be sure you have your oversize redfish tag with you, fishing in the near future is going to continue to get better and better , so hurry and book your trip so you can take advantage of this beautiful way of life God has given us.
